A PROJECT THAT EVOLVES

From Yo vengo de to Women and the Earth, Territories of Struggle

This project did not begin in the form it has today. Since 2021, the experiences, voices and processes shared with migrant women have continuously transformed the artistic creation, broadened its perspective and given rise to new stages.

It began with Yo vengo de, evolved into Ecofeminism: A Path to Peace and today continues to grow through Ecofeminism. Women and the Earth, Territories of Struggle.

STAGE 2

ECOFEMINISM: A PATH TO PEACE

Building on Yo vengo de, the project broadens its perspective and places ecofeminism at its centre. Personal stories of migration, resistance and struggle are connected to human rights, structural violence and the defence of Life and the Earth.

“Across the world, it is predominantly organised women who are confronting the greatest challenges.”

Yayo Herrero, Ecofeminismos. La sostenibilidad de la Vida

THE PERFORMANCE

A Community and Social Theatre production co-created and performed by women from the Global South: committed activists who expose structural violence in both the Global South and Europe because they are women and defenders of Life and the Earth.

A performance giving voice to Ecofeminism, forced migration and Human Rights, followed by a post-show discussion.

Ecofeminism through theatre

Digital LH and TV LH

· 15/01/2024 · Migrant women in L’Hospitalet reflect on ecofeminism through theatre. Interview with Yayo Herrero.

THE VOICES OF MANY WOMEN WHO GO UNHEARD

The ecofeminist movement of the Global South is a social struggle led by women activists against institutional, colonial and femicidal violence, based on a holistic approach that respects Nature and all its inhabitants.

Women human rights defenders, Indigenous rights activists and defenders of territories denounce processes of dispossession, exploitation, corruption, environmental destruction and different forms of violence against women.

Speaking about ecofeminist movements, Yayo Herrero points out that they are firmly rooted in their territories and that the people involved become agents of resistance, struggle and change. The aim of these struggles is dignity and the sustaining of lives worth living.
